New hardwood, laid board by board. We prepare the subfloor, set the boards, and finish the transitions where the floor meets the rest of the house.

Sanding an old floor back to bare wood and building a new finish on it. The scratches and worn traffic paths come off with the old finish.

Recoating & Maintenance

A fresh coat over a floor whose finish is worn but whose wood is still sound. Lighter work than a full sand, and it keeps a floor from needing one.

Questions we get asked

Can my floors be sanded and refinished instead of replaced?

Usually, if the boards are solid and thick enough to take a sanding. Sanding removes the old finish and a thin layer of wood with it, so a floor can only take it so many times. We look at the floor first and tell you which way makes sense.

What is the difference between a recoat and a full refinish?

A recoat puts a new coat of finish over the existing one, so the wood is never taken back to bare. A full refinish sands the floor to bare wood and builds the finish up again. A recoat suits a floor whose finish is worn but not damaged.

Can you fix just one damaged area?

Yes. Repairs are part of what we do. The damaged boards come out, replacements go in, and the repair gets blended into the finish around it.
